On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, killing over 1,200 people and abducting more than 250 civilians. For countless Jewish people, this day is etched into memory—and it should be for all of us.

Sivan Oved was there and witnessed the horrors firsthand. Join us as she shares her personal account of that day and reflects on how life in Israel has changed nearly two years later. Don’t let the passage of time—or the rise of antisemitism—erase the truth of what happened just a few years ago.

Instructor Bio:

Sivan Oved is an Israeli educator and community leader from the Negev. Born and raised in Sderot, near the Gaza border, she developed a strong sense of purpose through her work with youth in vulnerable communities. She began her career as an English teacher and social education coordinator, and today lives with her family in Kibbutz Ruhama, where she continues to lead educational and social initiatives that strengthen Israeli society. Sivan also spent two years as a Jewish emissary in Las Vegas, working with students at UNLV through Hillel. During that time, she had the privilege of getting to know and collaborate with The Friends of Israel's interns—building meaningful relationships with Christian supporters of Israel and deepening interfaith connections rooted in shared values and love for the land of Israel.
